OUR STORY
Back in 2008, in a cosy living room in the Suffolk countryside on a Friday evening, four singing students and their teacher sat down at a piano, started to sing their favourite songs together and Out Of The Shadows was born. Since then Out Of The Shadows has evolved into three ensembles - Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and London - but our ethos remains the same.
The original group has had dramatic changes in numbers and faces over the years and as we have grown, so have the number of opportunities for performance, musical training, laughter and memories

But despite our growth, our principles remain the same as when the first group started. To push and develop our singers' skills; to create strong friendships and a passion for all types of music amongst our members; and, to be true to our name, continue to nurture and showcase the hidden talent of all our members.
THE TEAM
VICTORIA CALVER BA (Hons), LTCL
MUSICAL DIRECTOR, ARRANGER & FOUNDER
Victoria Calver is a well-established Musical Director and Choral Conductor and has spent the past 10 years working with many diverse and exciting professional and amateur groups. She has taught at some of London's most prestigious Performing Arts Colleges and currently teaches at PPA in Guildford alongside running 'Out of the Shadows'. Victoria has performed at some of the country's finest venues and has won many choral competitions with choirs under her Musical Direction. She initially trained as a classical vocalist but soon discovered her passion for musical direction and found choral work and singing teaching incredibly rewarding. Victoria works in great detail with her choirs striving for each individual to get the most from their own voice, whilst developing the sound of the choir as a whole. ‘Out of the Shadows’ is a choir that works on new material, developing arrangements and compositions to suit the individual vocal timbres of the singers as well as that of the Out Of The Shadows choir.
